Helsinki Hotels Recommendations

Some of the best hotels in Helsinki, chosen by our past travelers on our journeys, including luxury hotels, boutique hotels, and budget hotels. We have collected a number of recommendations from all our guests who have traveled with us to Lapland throughout the decade, and here is their recommendations for hotels in Helsinki.

1. Hotel Kamp

The Kämp is on the north side of the Esplanadi park, a green strip running down to the South Harbour and Market Square lined with classy Finnish design shops (Marimekko textiles and clothing, Iittala glassware and kitchenware). The Senate Square and Lutheran and Orthodox cathedrals, the Ateneum Art Museum, the Stockmann department store and Aleksanterinkatu shopping street, served by frequent trams taking you all over the city, are all easy short walks from the main door. The main Railway Station is a 10-minute walk away.

2. Hotel St. George

The St. George is as central as you can get, occupying a converted 19th-century office building on the corner of a quiet leafy park. The tree-lined boulevard is a one-minute stroll away, as are Mannerheimintie, Helsinki’s broad downtown main street, and the esplanade that leads down to the harbour-side Market Square and historic Senate Square. Tram stops on Mannerheimintie provide fast five to 10-minute links to the railway station, the Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Music Centre and Finlandia Hall venues.

4. Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel

In a quiet side street just a five-minute walk from the platform serving trains at the main railway station to and from Helsinki Airport. The bus station in the station square is also the end stop for airport buses. The Art Museum of the Ateneum is handily placed on the same square, while the city’s main shopping streets and malls, such as the Esplanade, Aleksanterinkatu and Kamppi Centre, are within a ten-minute walking radius, as is the Senate Square, Helsinki’s historical hub. Restaurants and bars also line the eastern side of the square, three minutes from reception.

5. Hotel Lilla Roberts

Lilla Roberts borrows the Swedish name of the short, subdued street on which it is located. Helsinki’s main central shopping malls and sleek design boutiques lining the Esplanadi park are within a 10- to 15-minute walking radius. The South Harbour, serving daily ferries to Stockholm and Tallinn, is a five-minute taxi hop and the number 10 tram stop is just two minutes away.
