Seeing the Northern Lights is way up high on everyone’s bucket list. An experience that people wait a lifetime to see! The best places in the world are usually closer to the Arctic Circle.
Here are TJD’s top recommendations on the best places to see the Northern Lights in Scandinavia.

Finland

Norway

Another great place to see the Northern Lights is Norway. Tromsø is the largest city in Northern Norway. With a location at nearly 70° north, and between fjords, mountain peaks, and islands, it is a prime starting point for your Arctic adventure. Once again, on our TJD trips, we take you the Northernmost part of Norway where you have the chance to sail in between the fjords. Tromso is above the arctic circle and makes it an prime location to see the Northern Lights on a dark clear night between late October till late March.

Sweden

Northern Sweden is considered part of Lapland, and, one of the greatest places to see The Northern Lights. Here, we have multiple experiences in accommodation that even includes outdoor jacuzzis and Tree hotel. A night out in the Swedish Lapland on clear skies, is a night of success in seeing the Northern Lights if the Aurora activity is strong, between late October till late March.

Svalbard

One of the greatest places in the world, is the northernmost settlement on earth, Svalbard. A Norwegian archipelago between mainland Norway and the North Pole. An island realm with ice-covered fjords, glaciers, soaring mountains, and rare wildlife that includes polar bears. Here, there is almost no light pollution anywhere you go and during the polar night from November to February, you can see one of the greatest Northern Light shows on a clear sky!
